In our blog Merlot: Intense and Velvety, we told you how we imagined the personality of our Merlot, like a friend or family member, as someone who’s happy with relaxed get-togethers like eating at friends’ homes, or an afternoon playing board games with their family.

But, what other activities would be ideal for someone who sees themselves in this variety? Despite enjoying indoor activities like staying home, eating pizza, and binging a series, they also enjoy going out and discovering new places. It might be a bar with videogames, amusement parks, or going to the top of San Cristóbal on the cable car. Anywhere to have fun like a kid again.

It’s the same with technology. If they are a gamer, we would recommend apps like Pokemon Go or Angry Birds. For something more intellectual, try the New Yorker app, where you can access all of their articles, and also listen to podcasts, searching content all the way back to 2008, and much more.

If we’re talking about travel, we think some of the best alternatives for Merlot are places where they can really explore with their inner geek. A great start would be Florence, known in Italy as the “city of art”. Here you can start by discovering the collections in the wonderful museums, visiting Michelangelo’s David (one of the greatest works from the Renaissance), in the Galleria Accademia Firenze, enjoying an afternoon walking on the Ponte Vecchio, learning about the Medici dynasty, or just enjoying the fantastic food.

Another option would be Dublin, the capital of Ireland. What will you find here? A mix of Gaelic traditions, beautiful parks, historic monuments like Trinity College, lively pubs in Temple Bar, and busy streets like O’Donnell or Grafton for shopping.

And for those that are music fans, a great destination would be New Orleans, especially for jazz fans. Here you’ll lose yourself in small bars with live music, enjoying the famous Mardi Gras festival, admiring the colorful houses with perfect wrought-iron porches, riding on the antique streetcar, or trying the delicious Cajun and Creole cuisine. This southern city has been rebuilt since Hurricane Katrina, and has shown a new side to the country, with fast food and modernity ruling the reconstruction.
